TRITTICI

WITH TRIPTYCHS I STARTED TO WORK ON LONG SHEETS OF PAPER WHICH I THEN CUT, ALTERNATED, BROKE DOWN AND REASSEMBLED IN DIFFERENT ORDERS.

IN THESE WORKS, I DEALT WITH THE MOST MATERIALISTIC OF THEMES: THE POLITICAL THEME.  BETWEEN THE ABSTRACT COMPOSITION THERE ARE LINES OF MOUNTAINS, GUSTS OF WIND, STORM SURGES AND VOLCANIC EXPLOSIONS.  THE FORCES OF NATURE COLLIDE ON THESE THREE SHEETS OF PAPER.  THE FORCES OF NATURE THAT SOMETIMES WELCOME AND SOMETIMES REJECT THE NEW.  JUST AS IT HAPPENS IN THESE CURRENT TIMES, WITH HUMANS MOVING ON THE EARTH BETWEEN NATIONS.

 

THE TRIPLE STRUCTURE IS INSPIRED BY THE TRIPTYCHS USED IN MEDIEVAL ART, MAINLY FOR LITURGICAL ART.  MY TRIPTYCHS HAVE IN COMMON AN OPENNESS TO SPIRITUALITY, MEDIATION AND DREAMS.  THESE TRIPTYCHS, HOWEVER, PROPOSE ANOTHER VISION OF DIVINITY: A DIVINITY WITHOUT A FACE, WITHOUT ORDER, WITHOUT HIERARCHIES.  ONE MORE TIME THERE IS A GOD WHO MANIFESTS ONESELF IN THE FORM OF COLOURED, UNMENTIONABLE, INDECIPHERABLE NATURAL FORCES.
